Our specialty classes are taught by experienced licensed RN's and LPN's who are interested in your success and professional career in the health care system.

DSHS Safety and Orientation Training

This training is designed to help you take ownership of your own safety and health and to take action to protect the safety and health of clients in your care. Your role in safety as a LTC worker is to help:

  • Prevent accidents and injury to yourself and clients
  • Stop the spread of infection and disease
  • Prepare for and handle emergencies

Mental Health Specialty Training

This course is a DSHS approved training for caregivers, resident managers, and providers in long-term care settings. You will obtain an introduction to mental disorders. Learn:

  • How to give Compassionate and Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Supports for Wellness.
  • Getting Help and Self-Care.
  • Suicide Prevention.
  • Communication Dynamics.
  • Boundaries.
  • Approaching Behaviors.
  • Crisis Management.

Class Requirements:

  • 8 hours – two days from 9 AM to 1 PM
  • offered both virtual and in-person every two weeks.
  • At the end of the course, students are given an exam in which they are expected to score an 80% or higher to pass the class.

Nurse Delegation: Special Focus: Diabetes

This course is a self-study course designed for nursing assistants who:

  • Are registered or certified (NA-R’s or NA-C’s)
  • Have successfully completed the Nurse Delegation for Nursing Assistants Self-Study Training Course
  • Need this additional, required training to administer insulin injections under nurse delegation

Nursing Delegation Core Basics: Self Study Course

This course is designed to help prepare you to accept nurse-delegated tasks. Your training happens in two steps. You will:

  • Learn the basics of delegation, how to administer medication, and how to perform some specific health care procedures from this course.
  • Receive client-specific on the specifics of how to care for an individual client.

Dementia Specialty Training

This course is a DSHS approved training for caregivers, resident managers, and providers in long-term care settings. You will obtain an introduction to the different types of Dementia. Learn how to:

  • Set the Tone when dealing with clients with Dementia.
  • Working with Families.
  • Sexuality and Intimacy in dealing with Dementia.
  • Medications, Treatments, and Therapies.
  • Activities of Daily Living.
  • Communication with People who Have Dementia.
  • Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Approaching Challenging Behaviors.
  • Tips for Dealing with Specific Challenging Behaviors

Class Requirements:

Continuing Education/Skills Exam Payment

Both CNA's and Nurses are required to take continuing education hours to renew their license. We offer a variety of Continuing Education (CE's) classes for both.
